My 10-year-old has a pre-existing condition. Can I add her to my plan?

If you have dependent coverage, yes. Insurance companies are not allowed to deny coverage for children because they are ill or injured or because they had a health problem in the past.

This part of the new health care reform law became effective in September 2010. If you have a son or daughter with a pre-existing condition who is not covered by your insurance, ask your plan administrator when you can add your child to your plan.
